Classmate Roy Edwin Morrow dies
ENID — Roy was born March 23, 1940, in Enid, Okla., the son of Oren and Edith Dowler Morrow, and passed from this life Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2012, in Sallisaw at the age of 72.
A 1958 graduate of Enid High School, he served in the U.S. Air Force as an air traffic controller and was stationed in Alaska and Maine.  Mr. Morrow was a retired power plant operator for Tulsa District Corps of Engineers. He worked at several lock and dams, including Robert S. Kerr, Broken Bow and Mannford.  Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 19, 2012, at U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith, Ark., under the direction of Agent & Mallory-Martin Funeral Home, Sallisaw. Viewing 1-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, where the family will greet friends from 6-8 p.m.  Condolences online to http://www.agentfuneralhome .com.

Esquire May Reopen as a "Classic Movie" theatre

ENID, Okla. — Enid Regional Development Alliance board of directors voted Thursday to provide monetary support for plans to renovate and reopen the historic Esquire Theater in downtown Enid.

Enid-based Retro Theaters Limited LLC approached ERDA for help with plans to purchase, renovate and reopen the Esquire Theater.

The Esquire is a one-screen theater at 217 W. Randolph, currently being used as an indoor soccer arena.

“The dream is to return the theater to the downtown area and turn the Esquire into a classic revival theater,” said Mark Marshall, one of the founding partners of Retro Theaters Limited. “This would be a first not only in the state of Oklahoma, but in our surrounding states as well.”


“Enid is the perfect venue for this,” Marshall said. “The movies that are coming out now are segmenting the audience more and more. But, the classic movies appeal to everyone, and they’re family friendly.”

EHS University Center

With 16 Advanced Placement and 3 Northern Oklahoma College courses on campus, students can graduate from high school with enough credits to be a college sophomore (plus hours), a move that can save families more than $30,000 in tuition, room and board!.  These classes are available now and will expand when EHS opens its 20 classroom, state of the art University Center in 2013.
