Reed Jack Keffer Passes Away


Reed Jack Keffer, age 77, passed away on Friday morning March 2, 2018 at home with his loving wife of 52 years by his side.  Reed was born in Enid, OK to Jackson Keffer and Laurita (Reed) Keffer on October 8, 1940. He graduated from Enid High School.

Reed married Cheramy 'Cher' (Deyoe) on January 8, 1966. He worked as a District Line Haul Manager for Roadway Trucking Company for many years, which took them to many different cities across the country. Moved to Oklahoma in 1989, where he worked for Greyhound Bus as Terminal Manager in Tulsa until 2000. Then he went to work for APAC Quarry as a Line Haul Manager, where he retired in 2005 at the age of 65.  Reed and Cher shared a passion for showing dogs and owning their own kennel, Chereed Akitas, located in the Claremore area. They were very successful in both the breeding world as well as the show ring. Their dogs won many awards over the years. Reed was also an AKC licensed Dog Show Judge, and in the 1980’s, he was elected as the ACA (Akita Club of America) National Specialty Akita Judge in Denver, CO. They made many friends over the years & enjoyed traveling to dog shows and spending time with friends in the dog show circuit. He was preceded in death by Jackson Keffer (Father), Laurita Richardson (Mother), Michael Richardson (Step-brother); Patrick Richardson (Step-brother). Reed leaves many loving memories with his wife, Cher; his brother in law, Terry Deyoe; and many other loving family members; as well as a large group of friends all over the world. Services for Reed Jack Keffer will be held on March 24, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Christ Presbyterian Church, Claremore, OK  with Pastor Dave Schwenk officiating. Family requests in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made in Reed's name to the Christ Presbyterian Church, 2339 Holly Road, Claremore, OK 74017; Phone: (918) 342-5134.
