Class loses Judy Cozart Pendleton

Obituary for Judy Pendleton

 A Celebration of Life Service for Judy M. Pendleton age 76 of Enid will be 2:00 pm, Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at Ladusau-Evans Chapel with The Rev. Bishop J. Randal Hackworth officiating. Burial will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.
Judy was born March 28, 1940 to John and Alberta (McCracken) Cozart and passed away Thursday, November 24, 2016 at the home. She attended Enid Public Schools graduating in 1958. She married her teenage sweetheart Dale Pendleton on August 16, 1958. Judy loved her church and family very much. Her four grandchildren were very special to her.
She worked for S&H Green Stamps for 20 years, the last 6 years as Senior Manager. She then went to work as a teller for Security National Bank for 14 years retiring in 2005. Judy volunteered for the Horn of Plenty and was a member of the Gideon’s Auxiliary. She attended the Community Church of the Plains. She had taught various Sunday school classes, Past President of Women’s Missionary Society and Church pianist for 60 years.
She is survived by her husband Dale of 58 years, two sons, Scott and wife Kristy Pendleton of Enid, Darin and his wife Lori Pendleton of Edmond, her wonderful grandchildren, Shane and Lexie Pendleton, Kayla Enloe and husband Chad, and Nicole Pendleton, two sisters, Shirley Celli and husband John and Mary Fritz and husband Mike, sister-in-law Dean Ellis, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents and stillborn twin sons.
Memorial may be made to Community Church of the Plains with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodians of the funds.

Class loses another member

A Celebration of Life Service for Jay H. Witt age 75 of Enid will be 10 am Monday, November 9, 2015 at the Willow View United Methodist Church with Rev. Lesly Broadbent officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.
Jay was born January 7, 1940 in Enid to Henry and Iva Shorter Witt and passed away November 4, 2015 in St. Mary’s Regional Hospital. He was raised in Enid graduating from Enid High in 1958. Jay served in the 45th and 189th Infantry with the Army Reserves for 8 years. Jay started to work for Hackney Steel in 1960 retiring as a torch cutter in 2000.
Jay was an active member of Willow View United Methodist Church, where he was in charge of lawn maintenance. Jay was a member of the Enid Moose Lodge, Polka Club, Enid Men’s Garden Club and Enid Spiritual Cancer Support Group. Jay enjoyed volunteering at Greenbrier Nursing Home and Highland Park Manor.
Jay was an avid fisherman and enjoyed going with his family and friends. Jay enjoyed his time at the dog park with his dog Peatie.
He is survived by his cousins and half-sister Louise Nichols.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

Ray Carter Dies

Ray Carter, 74 of Hilton Head Island passed away on February 26, 2015 in the Hilton Head Medical Center, Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.
He was born on September 18, 1940 in Enid, Oklahoma to Maxine Elizabeth Carter (Bennett) and the late Ray Elvin Carter. He attended Enid schools and received his Bachelors and MBA from Oklahoma State University. After accepting a position with IBM he moved to New York where he pursued a career in software programming and systems analysis. He later expanded his career in the financial industry in New York City. He and his wife Barbara enjoyed the cultural activities in the city including the theater and arts.
He retired after a 40 year career to Hilton Head Island, South Carolina and spent his summers on Cape Cod, Massachusetts. He loved to travel with his wife, especially long cruises throughout the world. He enjoyed fine dining and collecting wines.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Ann Carter (Doiron) of Hilton Head Island, SC; his mother, Maxine E. Carter of Edmond, OK; two daughters, Nancy Shaw (Garin) of Guthrie, OK and Stephanie Carter of Hilton Head Island, SC: one brother, Larry Carter of Oklahoma City, OK and one granddaughter, Alexis Shaw of Guthrie, OK.
Memorial services will be held at 2 pm on Thursday, March 12, 2015 at the Henninger-Hinson F.H. chapel in Enid, OK; with the Reverend Don Johnson officiating.
Memorial donations can be made to the American Heart Association with the funeral home acting as custodian of the fund.  Henniger-Hinson.
